Susanne has a passion for furthering knowledge of early Quakerism as the basis for better understanding our current practices and beliefs, and for using this background as the basis for establishing new and life-giving structures to support the spiritual life of Meetings.

Susanne is a sojourning member of Salmon Bay Friends Meeting in Seattle, where she has served on committees dealing with religious education, worship and ministry, oversight, pastoral care, and adult spirituality.

Susanne is a member of Oslo Monthly Meeting in Norway. Although she is a permanent resident in the USA, she frequently travels to Norway for speaking engagements and to lead retreats.

Susanne has worked as secretary for Norway Yearly Meeting and led a project of pastoral visitation and spiritual growth and development within the Yearly Meeting.

During that time, she developed and edited a newsletter for spiritual nurture of the Yearly Meeting and advised Meetings on how to establish practices for spiritual nurture and accountability.

At Salmon Bay MM in Seattle, Susanne has served on the Ministry and Oversight committee.

She currently represents Salmon Bay MM on North Pacific YM's Steering Committee and serves on NPYM's Faith and Practice revision committee and NPYM's Support Committee for the World Gathering of Young Friends in 2005.

She also has founded a local support and accountability group for Quakers in Pastoral Care and Counseling.

Susanne has spoken to gatherings of Friends World Committee for Consultation, both at the European and World Consultation level.

She has addressed gatherings of Danish, Norwegian and Nordic Friends, as well as participating in planning the World Gathering of Young Friends in Belgium in 1991, the European Family Gathering in Sweden in 1996, and numerous Young Friends gatherings. She frequently writes for Kvekeren, the quarterly Norwegian Quaker Journal.
